Kasarvadavli Flyover: Thane's New Lifeline Opens!

Phase 1 of the Kasarvadavli flyover on Ghodbunder Road, Thane, is now open to traffic, marking a key milestone in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s (MMR) infrastructure development. The flyover was inaugurated by Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, and is expected to greatly reduce congestion while improving connectivity between Thane, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Bhiwandi, Vasai, and Virar.

Constructed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), the project includes a two-lane, 7.5-metre wide elevated structure, a 2×2 lane underpass, and a total ramp length of 721 metres. Designed to handle up to 73,333 passenger cars, it also ensures smooth integration with Metro Line 4 (Wadala to Gaimukh), enhancing intermodal travel efficiency.

Minister Sarnaik, who has long championed infrastructure upgrades in Ghodbunder, Gaimukh, and Kasarvadavli, stated that the left lane is now operational, while work on the right lane will commence post-monsoon.

The flyover is expected to significantly ease bottlenecks, particularly along the Waghbil–Gaimukh stretch, and improve access to National Highways 3 and 8. With improved road and metro connectivity, the Kasarvadavli flyover is poised to become a critical asset in Thane’s urban mobility and regional development framework.
