Karwar’s Kadra Reservoir Gears Up for 100-MW Solar Park

Green energy momentum is building in Karwar taluk as the long-awaited Kadra reservoir floating solar project moves closer to reality.

First envisioned by KPCL six years ago, the initiative received a vital push through a 2023 pact with THDC to construct a 100-MW floating solar unit. Following thorough bathymetric studies and positive evaluations from senior officials inspecting the site, the project is clearing its final technical hurdles. A final Detailed Project Report is just around the corner, promising a two-fold benefit: bolstering Karnataka’s renewable energy portfolio and easing water-deficit hurdles for regional hydropower.
