The Karnataka Tourism Department has planned a series of service- and infrastructure-oriented projects across the state, focusing on heritage sites, eco-tourism hubs, and major pilgrimage centres.
Projects worth ₹367.32 crore are being implemented under four central schemes, with tenders already floated for several components. Destinations in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Bidar, Udupi, Hampi, Ballari, and Belagavi will see upgrades including audio-guided heritage walks, cycle tracks, enhanced visitor amenities, and improved mobility facilities. Officials said the initiatives aim to enrich visitor experiences while preserving local character and ecology.
In Bengaluru, the Roerich and Devika Rani Estate at Tataguni will be developed as an eco-tourism and cultural hub, featuring nature trails and wellness facilities. Udupi will get an 11.7-km cycle corridor connecting Mattu and Padukere beaches, while Mysuru will see upgraded tonga stands and eco-experience zones. Bidar Fort will feature audio guides and forest trails. Officials added that plans also include an eco-wellness plaza with waterfront and garden-view cottages.
