John Cockerill has secured a major contract from JSW Vijayanagar Metallics for the development of advanced processing facilities under its Cold Rolled Non-Oriented (CRNO) electrical steel project in Vijayanagar, Karnataka.
The scope of the contract includes the design, engineering, supply, supervision of erection, and commissioning of two Annealing and Coating Lines (ACL 2 and ACL 3) and one Annealing and Pickling Line (APL). These facilities will support an annual production capacity of approximately 600,000 tonnes, significantly enhancing India’s capabilities in the manufacturing and processing of electrical steel.
The project encompasses end-to-end execution, including engineering design, equipment manufacturing and supply, installation oversight, commissioning, and operator training. John Cockerill will execute the project in collaboration with Fives Stein, leveraging combined expertise in metallurgy and thermal processing technologies to meet the stringent quality and performance requirements of electrical steel production.
The partnership is expected to deliver state-of-the-art processing lines that align with JSW’s operational objectives and product quality standards. Scheduled for completion by 2028, the project represents a significant milestone for John Cockerill and further strengthens its position in India’s growing market for advanced steel processing technologies.
