Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel manufacturer, in partnership with AB Energia Solutions, has inaugurated Odisha’s largest captive solar power facility at its Jajpur manufacturing plant.
With a combined capacity exceeding 30 MWp, the project includes a 7.324 MWp floating solar plant on an internal reservoir and a 23.02 MWp rooftop system spread across ten industrial buildings. This integrated setup is expected to generate over 44.3 million units of clean electricity annually—enough to power approximately 15,000 households—while reducing carbon emissions by an estimated 32,208 tonnes per year.
A standout feature is the floating solar installation, which turns unused water surfaces into productive energy assets. Meanwhile, the rooftop system optimizes available space across varied elevations for maximum energy capture.
Abhyuday Jindal, Managing Director, stated, “This commissioning marks a significant milestone in our sustainability journey. Through strategic investments and partnerships, we are embedding renewable energy at the core of our operations, helping redefine stainless steel manufacturing in India.”
Jindal Stainless has pledged to achieve Net Zero emissions by 2050, with a planned investment of ₹700 crore in decarbonisation initiatives over the next five years, aligning with national and global sustainability targets.
