Stellantis has announced a major revamp of its India strategy, revealing plans to develop and manufacture a new global Jeep vehicle in collaboration with Tata Motors as part of its broader effort to position India as a cost-efficient engineering and export hub for over 50 international markets.
The upcoming Jeep model will be based on a platform supplied by Tata Motors and produced at the Stellantis–Tata joint venture manufacturing facility in Ranjangaon, Maharashtra. The initiative is intended to lower development costs, increase localisation, and improve profitability amid rising manufacturing expenses and growing competition in global automotive markets.
During the company’s global “FaSTLAne 2030” Investor Day presentation, Grégoire Olivier said the collaboration highlights India’s growing importance in Stellantis’ global manufacturing and engineering strategy.
According to Olivier, Tata Motors’ long-standing partnership with Stellantis and its competitive vehicle platform capabilities will support the development of a new Jeep vehicle that will be designed and assembled in India for global markets.
