ITI Wins ₹1,901 Cr Northeast BharatNet Project

ITI Limited, India’s first public sector undertaking in telecom manufacturing, has signed an agreement with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to serve as the Project Implementing Agency (PIA) for the BharatNet Phase-3 Project – NER-II Package-15.

The agreement, executed on behalf of the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF), entails a total project value of ₹1,901 crore. This includes ₹1,168 crore allocated for capital expenditure (capex), ₹700.84 crore for operational expenditure (opex) related to the new network infrastructure, and ₹32.21 crore for the maintenance of existing infrastructure.

The project package covers the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Manipur. ITI, in partnership with its consortium partner, was declared the lowest bidder (L1) for this package in November 2024.

This agreement marks a strategic step in expanding digital connectivity in remote regions, aligning with the government’s broader vision of bridging the digital divide across India.
