Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 3 January 2026 inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands at Sri Vijaya Puram.
In line with the government’s development vision for the islands, nine major projects were inaugurated and foundation stones were laid for two additional projects, involving a total investment of ₹373 crore. Key initiatives include a ₹229-crore Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), Phase I of the district hospital costing ₹33 crore, a Forensic Science Laboratory, and six other projects collectively valued at ₹50 crore.
Addressing the gathering, Amit Shah said the projects mark the beginning of a new chapter in the development of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai, Andaman and Nicobar Lieutenant Governor Admiral D.K. Joshi, and Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan.
