Hitachi Energy India has secured a significant order from Power Grid Corporation of India (Power Grid) to supply 30 units of 765 kV / 500 MVA single-phase transformers, supporting the country’s ultra-high voltage (UHV) AC grid expansion. These advanced transformers are designed to enhance grid security, reliability, and efficiency, addressing India’s growing energy demand.
The transformers will be manufactured at Hitachi Energy India’s power transformer facility in Maneja, Vadodara (Gujarat), reinforcing the company’s commitment to the "Make in India" initiative. Delivery will be aligned with Power Grid’s ongoing transmission infrastructure development schedule.
In a notable innovation milestone, Hitachi Energy recently successfully tested a 765 kV / 400 kV, 250 MVA single-phase transformer filled with natural ester oil—marking the world’s first transformer at this voltage and power level using biodegradable ester fluid. This breakthrough offers a safer, more sustainable alternative for ultra-high-voltage AC grid applications, combining high performance with environmental responsibility.
