The Maharashtra government has approved the transfer of 1,000 acres of land to the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) for the development of a new industrial area in Indapur taluka of Pune district.
The land, currently under the Agriculture Department, is located near the existing Walchandnagar industrial estate and will be handed over to the Industries Department for further development. The proposed industrial zone will augment the existing 500-acre industrial area in Indapur, addressing the long-pending demand for expansion space in the region. The decision was taken at a State Cabinet meeting held on 10 February 2026.
With established industrial hubs such as Chakan, Ranjangaon, Bhosari, Baramati and Jejuri nearing saturation, the government has identified Indapur as a strategic alternative to accommodate rising industrial demand and support future economic growth in the district.
