Hindustan Oil Exploration Company (HOEC) has been awarded a new offshore contract area, MB/OSDSF/B15/2024, under the Special Discovered Small Fields Bid Round 2024, as of 15 April 2025. Located in the Mumbai Offshore region, the block covers approximately 332.4 sq. km at a water depth of around 40 meters.
The block comprises two key discoveries, B-15A-1 and B-15-2, and presents further exploration potential. To date, six wells have been drilled within the area. Notably, Well B-15A-1 tested at 1.66 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (mmscfd) and 1,833 barrels of oil per day (bopd), while Well B-15-2 produced 1,151 bopd and 0.91 mmscfd of gas, both from the Panna formation.
This acquisition complements HOEC’s existing MB/OSDSF/B80/2016 asset in the Mumbai Offshore region, increasing its total acreage in the area to over 800 sq. km. With this expansion, HOEC aims to strengthen its upstream portfolio by leveraging existing discoveries and pursuing new drilling opportunities within this promising offshore zone.
