HMRTC Fast-Tracks Palam Vihar-Dwarka Metro Revision

The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) has approved a revision of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed Metro corridor connecting Rezang La Chowk in Palam Vihar with Dwarka Sector 21.

The decision was taken during a board meeting in Chandigarh, where officials confirmed that the Metro line will no longer merge with the existing Rapid Metro network at Cyber City, as originally planned. Instead, the revised alignment provides for the line to terminate at Cyber City, with passengers interchanging with the Rapid Metro at the station. The updated DPR will also incorporate changes to track gauge and other technical parameters.

Traffic studies conducted by RITES and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation project daily ridership on the Rezang La Chowk–Palam Vihar corridor to reach around 2 lakh passengers by 2031, increasing to approximately 4 lakh by 2051. Both this project and the Yashobhoomi–IFFCO Chowk Metro corridor are currently under consideration by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
