A state-of-the-art medical college and hospital is being developed at Dumraon in Buxar district of Bihar, aimed at reducing the need for residents to travel to Patna or Varanasi for advanced medical treatment.
The project comprises a 500-bed hospital along with a medical college that will admit 100 MBBS students annually. It is being constructed on 25.38 acres of land at Haryana Farm and involves an estimated investment of ₹515 crore. The project is progressing at a fast pace and is expected to be completed by March 2026. Once operational, the facility will significantly strengthen tertiary healthcare services in western Bihar.
An official associated with the project said the hospital will help ease the burden on major medical centres in Patna while ensuring access to quality healthcare closer to home.
Located about five to six km from Dumraon railway station, the facility is strategically positioned to provide easy access while avoiding urban congestion. To further improve connectivity, the state government has approved ₹12 crore for the construction of a 13.5-km approach road, facilitating smooth movement of patients and emergency vehicles.
