Grid Stronger, NCR Brighter: The Metro Depot Project is Live!

Tata Power has successfully commissioned the 400/220 kV Metro Depot Substation along with its associated transmission lines, marking a major milestone in addressing the growing electricity demand in Greater Noida and the wider NCR region.

The strategically important project adds 1,000 MVA of transformation capacity to the grid. In addition to meeting local demand, surplus power from the substation will be fed into the Northern Grid, strengthening electricity supply across several northern states. The project was executed by TP Jalpura Khurja Transmission (TPJKPTL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power, and represents the first commissioning milestone under the Jalpura–Khurja TBCB project.

Commenting on the development, a Tata Power spokesperson said the timely completion reflects the company’s strong execution capabilities and its commitment to building reliable and sustainable power infrastructure. With this commissioning, Tata Power’s transmission network now spans 7,047 circuit kilometers, further reinforcing its role in enhancing India’s power transmission ecosystem.
