The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has approved a ₹3,034 crore budget for FY26, along with a ₹900 crore infrastructure package aimed at easing traffic congestion and meeting the city's growing urban demands.
These decisions were made during GMDA’s 14th board meeting, chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on April 23, 2025. A key initiative includes building flyovers or underpasses at five major junctions—Railway Road Chowk, Sector 5, Krishna Chowk, Rezang La Chowk, and Old Delhi Road–Palam Vihar—along the proposed metro route from Millennium City Centre to Cyber City.
To streamline execution, the Authority has tasked GMRL with constructing these grade separators, including an underpass at Bakhtawar Chowk, as ‘deposit work’ for GMDA—eliminating the need for separate tenders and minimizing delays.
To address urban flooding, ₹70 crore has been earmarked to overhaul 4.2 km of deteriorated master drain networks across Sectors 21, 22, and 23. Additional allocations include ₹110 crore for replacing a critical pipeline from the Basai water treatment plant to Sector 16, ₹134 crore to upgrade 15 km of sewer lines, and ₹41.8 crore for constructing a master road from NH-8 to Naurangpur via Sectors 78 and 80.
