Global Gates: International Flights Coming Soon to Udaipur

Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu informed the Rajya Sabha that the new terminal building at Udaipur International Airport in Rajasthan is close to completion and is expected to be inaugurated later this year. He added that discussions with airlines are ongoing to introduce international flight services from Udaipur in the near future.

Responding to a query from BJP MP Chunnilal Garasiya, the minister confirmed that the terminal project is progressing well and will soon be ready for operations, paving the way for overseas connectivity from the city.

Naidu also highlighted the rapid expansion of India’s aviation sector over the past 11 years, marked by a rise in the number of airports, aircraft, and passenger traffic. This growth has increased the demand for a skilled workforce.

He explained that Ground Handling Agencies (GHAs) are tasked with recruiting and training personnel in key areas such as passenger services, baggage handling, ramp operations, safety protocols, emergency response, customer service, and the use of specialised equipment. Training is delivered through classroom instruction, hands-on experience, and regular refresher courses.

These nationwide skill development efforts are carried out in collaboration with airlines, training institutes, and airport service providers, in line with government initiatives to ensure sufficient workforce capacity across the aviation industry.
