GatiShakti Accelerates: New Metro, Highways, and Logistics Hubs Approved

The 95th meeting of the Network Planning Group (NPG) was held on 12 June 2025 to evaluate five infrastructure proposals under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan, with a focus on enhancing multimodal connectivity and last-mile integration.

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs presented a 6.032-km extension of the Metro line from Koteshwar Metro Station to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The planning process incorporated inputs from key stakeholders, including the airport authority, urban local bodies, municipal agencies, urban development departments, and transport authorities.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) submitted two road infrastructure proposals:

An eight-lane access-controlled highway along NH-248S, aimed at facilitating cargo evacuation from Vadhavan Port in Maharashtra and integrating it with the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway and the Western Railway Line.

A 7.633-km elevated corridor in Jodhpur, stretching from Mahamandir to Akhaliya Chouraha, projected to reduce peak travel time by approximately 20 minutes.

Additionally, two Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) were reviewed:

A 315-acre facility in Hyderabad, designed to handle up to 19.98 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo by 2070.

A 106-acre park in Patna, expected to manage 5.43 MMT of cargo annually by 2071.

The meeting was chaired by Pankaj Kumar, Joint Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).
