The 17th meeting of the Empowered Task Force (ETF), chaired by Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil, focused on advancing technology-driven river rejuvenation under the Namami Gange Programme.
Key highlights included strengthening data-driven decision-making, monitoring systems, and compliance frameworks. Minister Paatil acknowledged the completion of 15 pollution abatement projects this year, with Uttar Pradesh leading (6 projects), followed by Bihar and West Bengal, reflecting significant progress in Ganga rejuvenation.
The meeting emphasized the reuse of treated wastewater, innovative solutions like aquifer mapping and bioremediation, and the development of sewage treatment infrastructure. States were urged to expedite policies for the safe reuse of treated water.
Technological initiatives reviewed included an aerial drainage survey in Uttar Pradesh using geospatial mapping and the integration of AI-enabled real-time CCTV monitoring at sewage treatment plants to enhance operational oversight.
