West Bengal is set to bolster its petrochemical sector with the inauguration of a Rs 6,000-crore phenol and acetone plant in Haldia.
Promoted by Adperma, a subsidiary of Haldia Petrochemicals, this facility represents a major expansion for the region and is designed to significantly boost domestic chemical manufacturing. With a combined annual capacity of 350,000 tonnes, the plant will provide a steady supply of essential industrial feedstocks for various downstream manufacturing sectors. By expanding domestic output, the project directly addresses India's reliance on imported phenol and acetone, thereby strengthening supply-chain resilience and self-reliance.
This strategic development further cements Haldia’s status as a premier petrochemical hub in West Bengal, driving long-term industrial growth, creating downstream manufacturing opportunities, and fostering regional economic progress.
