From Homes to Health: Nagpur Gets a ₹95 Crore Boost

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, will inaugurate a series of completed urban infrastructure and public utility projects in Nagpur on June 22, 2025. With a cumulative value of ₹95 crore, the projects span key areas such as housing, health, emergency services, sanitation, and urban beautification.

The highlight of the event is the inauguration of the PMAY Swapnaniketan Project, a ₹55.29 crore initiative aimed at providing affordable housing under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Other major launches include the Pachpaoli Fire Station (₹18.38 crore) and 27 Ayushman Aarogya Mandirs (wellness centres), reflecting a strong focus on strengthening public health and emergency infrastructure.

Additional developments being unveiled include:

A tree transplanter machine (₹5.47 crore) to support green initiatives

Three new fire tenders (₹4.14 crore)

A smart toilet facility at Omkar Nagar (₹45.68 lakh)

A hot mix plant for road maintenance (₹2.21 crore)

The Kalamna swimming pool (₹3.23 crore)

Beautification works worth ₹3.85 crore, including landscaping under flyovers at Mehandibagh, Dahi Bazar, Sakkardara, and Dighori

These projects underscore the government's push toward sustainable urban development and enhanced civic services. While seen as part of broader efforts to improve quality of life in the city, the timing and public rollout of the initiatives also align with the ruling party’s electoral strategy to reinforce its influence in the region.
