First Look: Adani & Embraer’s Groundbreaking Aerospace Alliance

Adani Group has partnered with Brazilian aerospace manufacturer Embraer to set up India’s first commercial aircraft final assembly line (FAL), marking a major milestone for the country’s aviation and manufacturing sectors.

The partnership will focus on the assembly of Embraer’s regional jets, designed for short- to medium-haul operations with seating capacities ranging from 70 to 146 passengers. The initiative is expected to establish regional jet manufacturing capabilities in India and significantly enhance local aerospace assembly, in line with the Government of India’s “Make in India” programme. While details regarding the location and investment size of the FAL are yet to be finalised, an official announcement is expected at the Hyderabad Air Show later this month. The government is also reportedly considering fiscal incentives for customers placing aircraft orders through the new assembly line.

Commenting on the opportunity, Embraer Senior Vice President Raul Villaron said there is strong demand for aircraft in the 80–146 seat segment, estimating that India could require around 500 such aircraft over the next 20 years. Separately, Gautam Sahni, Managing Director of Subha Aviation, has sought government approval for an operator’s permit.
