Final Stretch: 6-Lane Ganga Bridge Targets October Opening

Construction on the long-awaited 9.9-km, six-lane Ganga bridge connecting Stanley Road to Malak Harhar has hit the 94% completion mark, entering its final phase of work. Built under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the bridge includes a massive 5-km stretch running directly over the Ganga and promises crucial traffic relief for routes heading toward Lucknow, Pratapgarh, Sultanpur, and Ayodhya.

According to Project Director Sunil Singla, finishing works—including bitumen laying and cross-barrier installation—will take roughly six weeks. Vehicle trials are slated to begin in September, barring any severe delays from rising monsoon water levels. If trials prove successful, the district administration expects to receive the bridge by October for its public inauguration.

Once operational, the new route will bypass notorious congestion points like the Phaphamau bridge and Teliarganj. To keep traffic flowing smoothly after launch, local authorities have also proposed a 2-km elevated road extension from Kalash Crossing to the UPPSC crossing.
