Expressway to Ease: Rasulgarh-Raghunathpur Project Begins

To ease increasing traffic congestion in Bhubaneswar, the Odisha government is planning a four-lane expressway connecting Rasulgarh to Raghunathpur.

The proposed high-speed corridor will serve as an alternative to the overburdened Jayadev Vihar–Nandankanan Road, significantly improving connectivity between the city's southern and northern zones. Linking NH-16 at Rasulgarh with the Nandankanan–Raghunathpur region, the expressway is expected to cut travel time by 30–40% and divert traffic away from central Bhubaneswar.

The Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation (OBCC) has begun work on a feasibility study and Detailed Project Report (DPR), covering traffic forecasts, land acquisition needs, and environmental impact. While the final alignment is under review, the route is likely to run parallel to the Chandaka–Patia belt, connecting key IT and institutional hubs.

The project will also include service roads, pedestrian pathways, and provisions for future expansion, aligning with the state's broader integrated urban mobility strategy.
