ESL Steel has entered into a new agreement with Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) to supply piped natural gas (PNG) to its Bokaro steel plant, marking a significant step toward cleaner and more reliable industrial energy use.
The partnership was formalised in the presence of senior leaders from both organisations, including IOCL’s Manoj K. Sharma and Amiya Kumar Behera, along with ESL Steel Deputy CEO Ravish Sharma. The transition to PNG for select plant applications is expected to enhance operational reliability and safety while supporting ESL Steel’s broader sustainability objectives.
Emphasising the significance of the move, Ravish Sharma said, “Our partnership with IOCL represents a sustainable step to ensure a reliable and efficient energy supply for critical plant operations,” highlighting the company’s shift from LPG to a more environmentally responsible fuel and its commitment to long-term environmental stewardship.
