Modi Unveils ₹35,000 Crore Infrastructure Boost in Vadodara

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated infrastructure projects and laid foundation stones for new developments worth more than ₹35,000 crore in Vadodara on Tuesday, covering railways, highways, urban infrastructure and renewable energy.

A key highlight was the dedication of three Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) sections spanning 326 km and developed at a cost of over ₹20,700 crore. The sections connect Sanand–Makarpura, New Umbergaon–New Saphale and New Saphale–JNPT, strengthening freight movement between industrial hubs and ports.

The programme also included foundation stones for three railway projects covering 329 km at an estimated cost of over ₹9,700 crore. These include the Vadodara–Ratlam third and fourth lines, Miyagam Karjan–Choranda–Malsar gauge conversion, and Vishwamitri–Dabhoi doubling.

Highway projects worth around ₹1,780 crore comprise widening of the Kamrej–Chalthan stretch of NH-48, additional bridges and structures on the Vadodara–Surat corridor, and junction improvements on NH-53. The works are aimed at improving road capacity, connectivity and safety.

State-level projects worth around ₹2,600 crore include the proposed second phase of the Vadodara Ring Road and a 110 MW floating solar project at Kadana Dam. The overall package includes both completed infrastructure and newly launched projects, rather than ₹35,000 crore of newly completed construction.
