Drive Easier: Noida-Greater Noida's New Expressway Plan

The Noida Authority has approved plans for a second expressway between Noida and Greater Noida to reduce traffic congestion on the existing Noida Expressway.

Two potential designs are being considered: an eight-lane ground-level expressway or a six-lane elevated road along the Yamuna River’s embankments, connecting the Okhla barrage near Kalindi Kunj to the Yamuna Expressway.

The proposed expressway will follow the Hindon-Yamuna doab, leveraging existing road infrastructure along the Yamuna marginal bund. It will feature a four-lane road running 11 km from the Okhla barrage to an irrigation drain, along with a 14-km stretch parallel to various sectors in Noida. Traffic congestion has increased due to rapid growth in residential, industrial, and commercial sectors, along with the development of the upcoming Noida International Airport.

Strategic interchanges are planned at Sector-168 to connect with the Faridabad-Noida-Ghaziabad (FNG) Expressway, and at Sector-150 to link with a critical road between Sector-149A and Sector-150. A traffic survey and feasibility study will be conducted before finalizing the detailed project report (DPR).
