Doubling Down on Bauxite: OMC to Scale Kodingamali to 6 MTPA

Odisha Mining Corporation has announced plans to expand bauxite production capacity at its Kodingamali Mines to 6 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), nearly doubling the current capacity of 3.6 MTPA in response to sustained industrial demand.

The Kodingamali mine, operational for the past eight years, is an important part of Odisha’s mineral supply network. The bauxite deposit is spread across the Koraput and Rayagada districts and supplies raw materials to industries within the state, supporting Odisha’s broader industrial and manufacturing ecosystem.

According to the company, the expansion plan is being driven by rising demand from the aluminium and allied sectors, along with the state’s focus on strengthening resource-led economic growth and industrial development.

The proposed increase in production capacity is expected to significantly boost the mine’s contribution to Odisha’s overall mineral output and reinforce its role in meeting growing domestic industrial requirements.
