Lloyds Metals and Energy has commissioned its second pellet plant with a capacity of 4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) at Konsari in Maharashtra. Completed within 16 months, the project underscores the company’s fast-track execution capabilities. With this addition, total pellet production capacity at the Konsari complex has doubled to 8 MTPA.
The first pellet plant at the site is already operating at full utilisation, which is expected to support a smooth ramp-up of the new facility. The Konsari unit is closely integrated with the company’s captive iron ore mines at Surjagarh, ensuring consistent and cost-efficient raw material supply. Ore is transported via an 85-km slurry pipeline commissioned in June 2025, improving logistics efficiency and operational reliability.
This expansion highlights the company’s strategy of strengthening backward integration across mining, logistics, and processing. Such integration not only reduces costs but also enhances margins and overall competitiveness within the steel value chain.
The facility is designed to produce low-alumina pellets, which typically command premium pricing in both domestic and export markets. The move further reinforces Lloyds Metals and Energy’s position in the steel sector through improved supply chain control and value-added production.
