DMRC Proposes 18 New Metro Corridors Under Phase-V

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has put forward a proposal for the development of 18 new Metro corridors under Phase-V, covering a total distance of 206.5 km. The proposal has been submitted to the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for approval.

Among the proposed corridors, four will be entirely new: Mayapuri to Kashmiri Gate, CGO Complex to Surya Vihar (Faridabad), Mayur Vihar Phase-3 to Loni Border, and Najafgarh to Nangloi. The remaining 14 corridors are planned as extensions of the existing lines. Once completed, the expanded network will provide comprehensive Metro connectivity across Delhi, enhancing access to public transportation and alleviating road congestion.

The corridors are grouped into two segments: Phase V (A), which includes three corridors with ready Detailed Project Reports (DPRs), and the remaining 15 corridors, which will be developed in the second phase. Phase V will feature a total of 128 stations, with 115 km of elevated tracks (housing 79 stations), and the remaining portion will be underground. The longest corridor in this phase will run from Ballabgarh to Palwal, while the Mayur Vihar Phase-3 to Loni Border corridor will span 21 km, making it the second longest.

The first 15.8 km of Phase V will include key routes such as the Central Vista Corridor (Indraprastha to India Gate), the Aerocity to Airport Terminal 1 line, and the Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj corridor. These routes will complement the ongoing Swarn Rekha line (Tughlakabad-Aerocity).

Additionally, five of the proposed corridors will extend to regions in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. While approval for preparing DPRs for these corridors is still pending, the DMRC has emphasized the significance of these connections for fostering regional integration.
