Digital Bharat Nidhi has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to implement the amended BharatNet Programme, supported by ₹2,432 crore in central financial assistance.
The agreement, finalized at Sanchar Bhawan in New Delhi, represents a major push to strengthen and modernize digital infrastructure across the state. The project will be executed by Andhra Pradesh Broadband India Limited, with the objective of delivering high-speed, future-ready internet connectivity across rural regions.
The program covers 13,426 Gram Panchayats, including upgrades to 1,692 Phase I panchayats through a ring topology to improve network resilience, connectivity expansion across 11,254 Phase II panchayats, and inclusion of 480 newly formed panchayats. In addition, connectivity will be extended on a demand-driven basis to further reduce the last-mile digital gap.
Aligned with the Union Cabinet’s 2023 approval to modernize India’s national broadband backbone, the initiative aims to strengthen rural connectivity, improve access to e-governance services, and support economic development through a more robust digital ecosystem across Andhra Pradesh.
