Delhi's ₹821 Crore Boost: A Step Towards a 'Developed Delhi'

The Central Government has approved ₹821 crore in special assistance to accelerate Delhi’s transformation into a ‘Developed Delhi’, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on 30 July 2025.

Sanctioned under the Special Assistance to States/UTs for Capital Investment (SASCI) Scheme for FY 2025–26, 66% of the funds have already been disbursed as the first instalment, allowing for the immediate rollout of key development projects. The assistance will bolster essential public service sectors such as healthcare, education, housing, drinking water, electricity, and transport.

Out of the total allocation:

₹716 crore is dedicated to 33 major infrastructure projects, ₹105 crore will fund the priority corridor of MRTS Phase-IV

The approval follows a detailed proposal submitted by the Delhi government after CM Gupta’s recent meeting with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Originally launched in 2020–21 to support post-COVID economic recovery, the SASCI scheme provides 50-year interest-free loans for capital investment. It aims to drive infrastructure growth, employment generation, and sustainable development nationwide—positioning Delhi for accelerated progress under this latest funding round.
