Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: The Finish Line is in Sight

The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, the longest expressway in the country, is approaching completion in Rajasthan, with authorities aiming to finish the remaining work by September 2026.

Of the total 373-km stretch in the state, nearly 338 km has already been completed, leaving around 35 km still under construction. A crucial 27-km segment passing through Sawai Madhopur, Dausa, and Bundi is in its final stages, while work on a tunnel near Kota is progressing despite minor technical delays.

Built as a high-speed corridor, the expressway is designed to support speeds of up to 120 km per hour. It will feature controlled access via designated interchanges and automated tolling systems to ensure seamless traffic movement, with slow-moving vehicles restricted from the main carriageway to enhance safety and efficiency.

Once operational, the expressway is expected to significantly improve connectivity and cut travel time across the region. Travel between Dausa and Kota is likely to reduce from about five hours to nearly two, while journeys between Kota and Delhi could drop from around nine hours to approximately five, offering major benefits for both commuters and logistics operations.
