Dassault Acquires Majority Stake in DRAL for ₹176 Crore

French aerospace major Dassault Aviation is set to become the majority stakeholder in its joint venture with Reliance — Dassault Reliance Aerospace Ltd (DRAL) — by acquiring an additional 2% stake from Reliance Aerostructure Ltd (RAL).

The ₹176 crore (approximately $20 million) transaction will raise Dassault’s ownership in DRAL from 49% to 51%, giving it controlling interest in the venture. The deal was confirmed in a regulatory filing by Reliance Infrastructure Ltd, the parent company of RAL, and is expected to be completed by November 1.

Following the transaction, RAL’s stake will reduce to 49%, making it the minority partner in DRAL. The joint venture was originally established to support India’s “Make in India” initiative in the defence sector, particularly in manufacturing components for the Rafale fighter jets and other aerospace programs.

This development marks a strategic shift in the ownership structure, potentially strengthening Dassault’s operational control and long-term commitment to its Indian manufacturing base.
