CSIR-IICT Levels Up: New Eco-Facilities Launched in Hyderabad

Union Minister Jitendra Singh has inaugurated a series of advanced research and sustainability facilities at the CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) in Hyderabad, strengthening the institute's capabilities in clean technologies and industrial innovation.

The newly launched infrastructure includes a decentralised effluent treatment plant for textile wastewater, a Continuous Processing Technologies facility, and a Sustainable Engineering Complex. These additions are expected to accelerate research, technology development, and industry collaboration across the pharmaceutical, agrochemical, biotechnology, and chemical engineering sectors.

During the inauguration, the Minister emphasised the need for stronger collaboration between scientific research, agriculture, and industry to foster agri-startups and agri-entrepreneurship. He also highlighted CSIR's work in converting agricultural waste into value-added products, including innovations such as compressed biogas production from biomass and carbon dioxide conversion into Dimethyl Ether, underscoring India's growing focus on sustainable technologies, clean energy, and resource-efficient industrial development.
