COEP Tech Partners with JSW Projects for ₹800 Cr Battery R&D Centre

COEP Technological University, Pune, has partnered with JSW Projects through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up India’s first academic campus-based indigenous battery prototyping and pilot-scale R&D platform at the Chikhali Research Park. Backed by an investment of over Rs 800 crore, the facility will be developed in two phases—starting with design, simulation, and prototyping (Phase I) and scaling up to industrial-grade validation for 100-600 Ah cells (Phase II). Aimed at boosting indigenous electric vehicle and grid-storage capabilities, the initiative is expected to generate upwards of 1,000 jobs and drive critical R&D-to-industry transitions.
