Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is on track to open the Vadapalani–Panagal Park section of Phase II’s Corridor 4 by March 2027, in line with the project schedule.
The 3.5 km stretch forms part of the 26.1 km Corridor 4, which runs from Lighthouse to Poonamallee Bypass. Construction is progressing steadily, with tunnelling between Vadapalani and Panagal Park already completed and track-laying work expected to commence shortly. At Panagal Park station, structural construction has reached the concourse and platform levels, while excavation continues at the lower levels.
Meanwhile, another segment of Corridor 4 between Poonamallee and Vadapalani is likely to be commissioned earlier, potentially by February.
Once operational, the Vadapalani–Panagal Park section will provide direct metro connectivity to T Nagar, allowing passengers to travel via the existing Phase I network with an interchange at Vadapalani, thereby significantly reducing travel time. Panagal Park station will also play a crucial operational role, featuring crossover tracks for depot access and emergency operations.
