The Central Government has approved ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India’s (AMNS India) proposal to establish an iron ore slurry pipeline connecting Chhattisgarh to Andhra Pradesh via Odisha.
Approved under the Petroleum and Minerals Pipelines Act, 1962, the project aims to transport iron ore to AMNS India’s upcoming steel plant at Anakapalli, enabling a cost-efficient and environmentally sustainable logistics corridor that will significantly reduce dependence on road and rail transport.
This pipeline approval, along with the recent environmental clearance for the first 8.2 MTPA phase of the planned 17 MTPA integrated steel plant, marks a major milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s transformation into a global industrial hub. The Anakapalli facility will incorporate advanced, energy-efficient, and low-carbon technologies.
Education, IT, and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh lauded the approval as a testament to the state’s proactive governance and commitment to world-class infrastructure, emphasizing that the project will create thousands of jobs and drive green industrial growth in the region.
