Construction of Nagpur Metro Phase 2 is moving ahead swiftly, particularly along the 18.5 km Butibori corridor—the longest segment in the phase, featuring 10 stations. Significant progress has been made in civil works, infrastructure integration, and coordination with national agencies.
A newly established casting yard at Dongargaon is accelerating the production of concrete segments for the Reach 1 viaduct, speeding up the construction of the elevated track.
MahaMetro officials have confirmed that geotechnical surveys along Wardha Road are nearly complete, and technical drawings—including elevation profiles—are in their final stages. A major milestone is the integration of Metro construction with the realignment of National Highway 44 (NH-44). The Metro line will extend from Khapri, the current southern terminal station, to the Butibori MIDC industrial hub, running through the median of NH-44.
To support the Metro's elevated alignment, NH-44 is being widened by 2.5 meters over a 10 km stretch near Jamtha. This upgrade is designed to allow future six-lane expansion without requiring private land acquisition.
At-grade track laying is in progress beyond Khapri, with 2 km of ground-level track currently being constructed. Civil work is advancing steadily—station slabs for Metro City and Eco Park have been completed, while tree-cutting and utility shifting activities are nearing completion.
