Tata Group has committed to investing Rs 500 crore to expand Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Currently a 275-bed multi-specialty hospital, Breach Candy will maintain its name but may incorporate Tata branding, such as "Breach Candy, a Tata Sons associate."
The investment will focus on enhancing infrastructure, technology, and medical equipment, with the potential construction of a new building. This move also reinforces Tata Group’s presence in Mumbai’s healthcare sector.
This partnership aligns with the broader trend of corporate investments in healthcare, similar to the Adani Group's plans for a 1,000-bed hospital and medical college in the city. As part of the deal, Tata Group will gain three seats on the 14-member board of trustees. Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran will assume the role of Chairman of the Breach Candy Hospital Trust, taking over from Deepak Parekh, who will continue as a trustee.
