Blackstone Group is set to expand its data centre footprint in India, with plans to invest over ₹10,000 crore in developing a hyperscale digital infrastructure hub in Tamil Nadu.
Blackstone’s data centre platform, Lumina CloudInfra, has acquired a 16-acre land parcel in Ambattur, Chennai, for over ₹500 crore. The proposed campus, located within the Chennai metropolitan region, will offer an initial IT load capacity of 216 MW, reinforcing Chennai’s position as a key data centre hub in India.
The investment strengthens Blackstone’s growing portfolio of data centre assets across major Indian digital markets and reflects rising institutional interest in data-driven real estate and digital infrastructure.
The land transaction was facilitated by Bengaluru-based Beary Group, a real estate developer specialising in data centre projects. Beary Group, which has previously developed facilities for global operator NTT, will partner with Blackstone to deliver the project under its design-build-deliver (DBD) model.
Commenting on the development, Syed Mohamed Beary, Founder and CMD of Beary Group, said the project underscores India’s rapidly expanding digital and data-driven economy.
