Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information Technology and Human Resources Development, N. Lokesh, announced the launch of India’s first integrated Aviation, Aerospace and Defence (AAD) EduCity near Bhogapuram International Airport on December 16, 2025.
The GMR–MANSAS Aviation EduCity, spread over 136 acres, is designed to address the acute shortage of skilled aviation professionals in India and globally, while positioning the country as a major supplier of aviation talent. Minister Lokesh said the State government is committed to developing core infrastructure at the EduCity within a year, and added that roadshows will be organised from February 2026 onwards to attract universities and institutions to participate in the initiative.
Highlighting the strategic importance of the project, the Minister said, “India’s aviation growth is driven by scale and speed, but the key constraint is skilled manpower. The GMR–MANSAS Aviation EduCity is our response to this challenge—creating a world-class ecosystem that integrates education, research, industry collaboration, and on-the-job training.” The EduCity will function as a national capability platform, bringing together education, research, industry partnerships, and practical training for aviation professionals.
