Bharti Space, a subsidiary of Bharti Enterprises, has announced an investment of €31.4 million (approx. ₹312.8 crore) in French satellite operator Eutelsat, as part of a broader €1.35 billion (₹13,452 crore) capital-raising initiative. The investment round involves a consortium of strategic backers, including the French government, shipping giant CMA CGM, and Fonds Stratégique de Participations (FSP).
Eutelsat’s capital raise will be executed through two tranches:
A reserved capital increase of €716 million (₹7,134 crore) at €4 per share, offering new investors a 32% premium;
A rights issue targeting an additional €634 million (₹6,317 crore).
Both transactions are expected to close by the end of calendar year 2025.
Following the capital restructuring, Bharti Space’s shareholding will reduce from 24% to 18.70%, reflecting the infusion of new equity. The French State will become the largest shareholder with a 29.99% stake, while CMA CGM and FSP will hold 7.81% and 5.22%, respectively.
Importantly, the terms of the reserved capital increase restrict participating investors, including Bharti Space, from initiating a public takeover of Eutelsat. This structure is designed to broaden the shareholder base while ensuring strategic continuity and financial strength for Eutelsat’s long-term growth plans.
This investment aligns with Bharti’s broader ambitions in the global space and satellite communications sector, as Eutelsat continues its transformation into a major player in satellite broadband and connectivity services.
