Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), a prominent public sector enterprise, is set to invest ₹1,800 crore in a new metro rail coach and rolling stock manufacturing facility in Madhya Pradesh. The plant will be established on 60.063 hectares (148 acres) in Umaria village, Goharganj tehsil, Raisen district, on land allotted by the state government.
During a visit to Bengaluru, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav officially handed over the land allotment documents to BEML. He announced that the facility will produce Vande Bharat coaches, aligning with BEML’s existing operations in Bengaluru and strengthening Madhya Pradesh’s role in advancing India’s rail infrastructure.
This strategic investment is aimed at bolstering domestic manufacturing, reducing reliance on imports, and creating employment opportunities in the region. Headquartered in Bengaluru, BEML is Asia’s second-largest manufacturer of earthmoving equipment and a major supplier of railway and mining machinery. The new Raisen plant will significantly enhance BEML’s production capacity and support key national infrastructure initiatives.
