Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) has signed a significant contract with the Indian Army Air Defence for the production of the Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System (IDDIS). This agreement marks a major step in strengthening India’s indigenous defense capabilities against evolving aerial threats.
In addition to the IDDIS contract, BEL has announced cumulative additional orders worth ₹572 crore since its last update on April 7, 2025.
These new orders span a broad spectrum of defense and communication technologies, including the IDDIS, Software Defined Radios (SDRs), Data Communication Units (DCUs) for attack guns, AI-based solutions for naval platforms, simulators, jammers, a variety of communication systems, and related spares and support services.
BEL also confirmed the successful deployment of its integrated drone detection technology during the recent “Operation Sindoor.” The laser-based system, likely the IDDIS or a related platform, played a crucial role in neutralizing multiple low Radar Cross Section (RCS) drones launched from Pakistan. This operational achievement underscores the real-world effectiveness of BEL’s homegrown counter-drone capabilities.
