Anakapalle District Collector Vijaya Krishnan has approved the advance possession of 11.85 acres of government land in Settipalem village, Makavarapalem mandal (Narsipatnam division) to the Girijan Cooperative Corporation (GCC) for establishing a coffee processing unit.
This initiative is aimed at enhancing tribal livelihoods, generating employment, and boosting agro-based infrastructure in the region. The land spans survey numbers 108-2, 108-3, and 109-2, previously part of an open forest block (Sy.No.2) but later reclassified under tribal land distribution schemes. The plots—measuring 4.261, 3.647, and 3.945 acres respectively—are categorized as Banjaru (wasteland), non-forest, and cultivable, and are deemed suitable for agro-industrial development.
The Tribal Welfare Department had sought this allocation to support tribal coffee growers through value addition and improved market access. The Revenue Divisional Officer (Narsipatnam) and Tahsildar (Makavarapalem) have been directed to hand over the land to the GCC Vice-Chairman and Managing Director on an interim basis until formal alienation procedures are completed. Authorities have also been instructed to submit official alienation proposals without delay.
