AMRUT's Promise: Nashik Secures ₹305 Cr for Water Upgrade

The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has approved a ₹305 crore water supply improvement project under the Centre’s Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme.

Sanctioned by NMC's standing committee, the project will be executed by Kolhapur-based Laxmi Civil Engineering Services (LCESPL), with the work order to be issued shortly. The initiative aims to modernize the city's water distribution network by replacing 250 km of old pipelines and laying 100 km of new lines in emerging areas.

The project will be jointly funded—50% by the Central government and 50% by the NMC. It includes six key components, notably ₹95.2 crore for replacing pipelines that carry raw water to treatment plants and treated water to overhead tanks, and ₹90.3 crore for upgrading aging distribution lines across the city.

A major objective is to reduce non-revenue water (NRW) losses—currently at 45%—to below 20% by curbing leakages and system inefficiencies.
