Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has requested central assistance for constructing a six-lane cable-stayed bridge across the Krishna River. The proposed bridge, spanning approximately five km between Muktyala and Mulapadu, will connect the Vijayawada–Hyderabad (NH-65) and Chennai–Kolkata (NH-16) highways via the Amaravati capital region.
In a meeting with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari, Naidu highlighted the project’s potential to ease congestion at existing crossings, enhance inter-city connectivity, and promote regional development. The bridge will link Amaravati to three major national highways and integrate it with the planned Hyderabad–Amaravati greenfield expressway, strengthening the city’s role as a strategic logistics hub.
