The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has agreed to provide loans totalling ₹4,000 crore for the Musi River Rejuvenation project, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy informed the State Assembly.
Addressing the House, the Chief Minister said the detailed project estimates would be finalised by March 31, following which tenders would be invited and work would commence immediately. He added that consultants have been appointed to study the project and submit recommendations aimed at delivering a permanent solution to pollution in the Musi river.
As part of the rejuvenation plan, the state government proposes to divert water from the Godavari river to the Musi to maintain a continuous flow of clean water. The project envisages the utilisation of around 5 thousand million cubic feet (TMC) of water to restore and sustain the river’s ecological health.
