Acer & Plumage: Powering 'Made in India' Laptops

Acer India, in partnership with Plumage Solutions, has inaugurated a new laptop manufacturing facility in Kurumbapet, Puducherry, under the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for IT hardware.

Owned and operated by Plumage, the facility has an annual production capacity of 3 lakh laptops. It aims to streamline Acer’s supply chain, reduce delivery timelines, and drive localisation by cutting reliance on imports. In addition to laptops, the partnership will manufacture monitors, desktops, servers, workstations, and power adapters, positioning the facility as a comprehensive electronics manufacturing hub.

Plumage Solutions plans to invest ₹50 crore over the next 3–4 years to further enhance production capabilities. The plant is expected to generate high-skilled employment and cater to both domestic and export markets.

Calling the launch a milestone in India’s electronics journey, Harish Kohli, President & MD of Acer India, said, “This is a significant step toward achieving self-reliance in electronics manufacturing. India is not just a key market for Acer, but a strategic pillar for our global growth.”

Sudhir Goel, Chief Business Officer, highlighted the plant’s role in meeting growing demand while maintaining global quality standards. Mukesh Gupta, MD of Plumage, emphasized the collaboration as a fusion of Acer’s product leadership and Plumage’s engineering capabilities, aimed at setting new benchmarks in quality and innovation.
