The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the Delhi Metro Phase V (A) expansion project with an outlay of ₹12,015 crore.
The project предусматривает the addition of 13 new stations—10 underground and three elevated—across three key corridors, covering a total length of 16 km. This expansion will further strengthen the capital’s mass rapid transit system and is expected to take the overall length of the Delhi Metro network beyond 400 km within the next three years. Highlighting its significance, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said, “With this expansion, a new chapter will be added to the Delhi Metro.”
The new corridors are designed to improve last-mile connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and enhance access between residential neighbourhoods, commercial centres, and major transit interchanges. The project is expected to play a vital role in decongesting critical traffic corridors and significantly improving urban mobility across the National Capital Region (NCR).
